The role of the village

So we’ve all heard the saying, “It takes a village to raise a child.” I highly believe in it. It doesn’t matter if you’re a single parent, a married parent, a parent living with a partner, or a grandparent or guardian raising a child, everyone needs a village to help raise their child.  Because raising kids is such difficult work, we all need a few trustworthy people around us to help us with our kids. Now it could be friends from the neighborhood, friends from church, family members or daycare providers. Every parent needs a break from time to time. And I am a big believe that couples also need alone time every once in a while to reconnect. As a mom, sometimes I am burnt out. It is hard to be a career woman, be a momma and be a wife. As a mom, I am the maid, the housekeeper, the chauffeur, the therapist and many many other titles. The village helps keep me sane so that I can regroup and be a whole person again.

So do you have a  village? If no, who can become a member of your village?
